LGA 1151 (also known as Socket H3) is a microprocessor socket used by Intel CPUs utilising both the Skylake and Kaby Lake microarchitectures. LGA 1151 socket motherboards may use DDR3L or DDR4 memory. All Skylake processors support LGA 1150, LGA 1155 and LGA 1156 cooling solutions.

Although overclocking locked Skylake processors was previously possible, newer motherboards and BIOS versions have removed this feature, only allowing overclocking on unlocked processors, which are suffixed with a K. Skylake processors running on systems using Windows 8.1 or below, will no longer receive update support after July 17, 2017. It is recommended that said systems should be upgraded to Windows 10.
