Microsoft has released Windows Internet Explorer 8 Beta 1 to the public.[1] Some of the new features include:

  • IE 8 Standards mode enabled by default,[2] Microsoft has released the Internet Explorer 8 Readiness Toolkit to help web developers prepare for this and other things that could effect backward compatibility.
  • WebSlices and Activities.[3]
  • Redesigned Favorites Bar.
  • Safety Filter
  • Full-page zoom now reflows the text to remove the appearance of horizontal scrollbars on zooming.[4]
  • Tools that allow HTML, CSS and JavaScript debugging directly from the browser.[5]
